General Information On A Goldendoodle Breeder

By Anita Ortega

Breeder is the title given to a person who mates certain specimens in order to reproduce a breed that has the desired characteristics and qualities. Individuals interested can find a goldendoodle breeder in nearly any region of the world. These individuals specialize in the crossbreed that includes golden retrievers and poodles. Dogs are considered popular pets as puppies and even adults.

This dog was given its name circa 1990s. It is taken from the names of the two parent breeds: golden comes from the retriever and doodle is based n poodle. Different types of goldendoodles exist. In fact, there are even miniature ones. Breeders might specialize in a particular size, age or color when it comes to this breed.

The crossbreed has been around for some time. It originally came to be when breeders in Australia and North America started to cross their standard retrievers with poodles. The reason for doing this was to create guides for those with visual impairments, who also struggled with allergies. In fact, many consider this to be a designer dog, a term that dates all the way back to the twentieth century. This was a time when purebred poodles were mated with other purebreds to create a dog that was believed to have a hypoallergenic coat and still have the other desirable characteristics of other breeds.

In general, the animal is bred to be a companion. These are considered good pets for families, especially those with people who have allergies. Some might prefer to get this as a pet while it is still young so they can enjoy its energy and playfulness, while still establishing a bond with the animal. These animals might be bred solely for assistance, therapy and guidance purposes, mostly for people with allergies.

There are numerous reasons why individuals might choose this type of dog. Some prefer it because they like retrievers but are not interested in a dog that is known to shed a lot. Not all goldendoodles carry the non-shedding trait of the poodle. Still, they are expected to shed less than many other dogs. Know that some breeders will claim that this crossbreed is hypoallergenic, but there is not solid proof to date that supports such claims.

Like any other crossbreed, appearance of these animals will vary considerably. These have different types of coats, sizes, and colors. Straight, wavy and curly are the main coat types associated with these dogs.

There are also mini versions available through certain breeders. Like any other form of crossbreed, the appearance of each animals will differ. They may come in different sizes, colors and with different coats. Wavy, straight and curly are the most common coats seen with this crossbreed.

People who have interest in owning these should do research on the breed and the breeder in advance. These are considered an ideal pet for any people, especially those who loves animals but suffer with allergies. The pricing, as well as availability, of the animals will range by location. People are encouraged to search to see what is offered in their area.
