Advantages Of Round Bale Hay Net

By Della Monroe

There are areas that experience acute shortages of pasture. This could be as a result of the weather condition in the region or some calamities occurring when least expected. Despite this, people living in such areas are still able to keep animal such as horses and as well manage to feed them. They make use of many pasture preserving methods to make this possible. Round bale hay net is mostly preferred in this case due to the numerous advantages it has proved to have.

Among them is the fact that it greatly reduces wastage. Horses can be very wasteful when they are given complete access to their feeds. When the net is put in place, it make it possible for them to only take a mouthful at a go. This ensures that they feed in a controlled manner reducing wastage that ends up increasing the cost of keeping them.

It is common for animals to get injured when feeding. Some pasture may be very stiff and rough causing damage to the face as well as the mouth areas. When these nets are used to avail the hay for feeding, such occurrences are greatly minimized. It makes it possible to feed without the fear of any injury upholding the safety of the animal.

In one instance or another, people are required to regulate the food intake of their animals. This mostly happens when the animals are at different ages or can be recommended by a vet officer. Hay nets prove to be useful in serving this purpose. This is facilitated by the fact that it is possible to limit the amount of the feed that the horse is able to reach even if the bale is so large.

Those with more than one animal in the farm also benefit from the use of this feeding method. This is because it is possible for more than one horse for example to feed on a similar bale of hay without any problem. This is difficult to achieve especially when no control methods are put in place resulting to feeding competition at the same time wasting much of it.

It has also helped in preserving the quality of feeds. This is true because it eliminates cases where the animal ends up stepping, urinating or defecating on the bale that that it is feeding on. The net ensures that the stack remain fresh most of the time. Only a little gets contaminated something that happens when its near exhaustion.

Apart from regulating feed intake, its also useful in monitoring the weight of a horse. The fact that its a feed control method has made this possible. In most cases, animals end up adding a lot of weight when no feeder controls are put in place. This results to reduced performance as well as increase of expenses in availing the extra hay.

Another of its importance is the fact that it helps in reducing weathering. Hay tends to weather quickly if not stored in a good condition. The fact that it is kept intact as a bale in this case helps in maintaining its moisture as well as the desired amount of temperature reducing cases of it weathering.
