A Passing Look At American Goose Hunting

By Robert Ford

You can find guided goose hunting in Canada through field trips, over water shooting, shore blinds and the usual blinds situated in known flyways.

The top quality blinds are constructed and designed to improve comfort, safety and provide for easy shooting. Actually the majority of the blinds are equipped with heaters for the cold weather and you can hunt straight through the wintertime.

The benefit of guided Canada goose hunting is that you can enjoy hunting on private farms where the concentration of geese and waterfowl is very high and they travel from the marshes and river to surrounding grain fields. There are a number of ducks, goose and waterfowl that flock the North Eastern seaboard of Canada and North America. Perhaps this region is home to the largest variety of migratory birds including but not restricted to Giant Canadas, Old Squaw, Bluebills, Gadwall, Blacks and Woody's.

The key reason for shooting at private farms is that waterfowl like to search for grain in different wheat, corn, soybean and other grain fields for food. Experienced guides can follow the party of hunters and guide them the most effective shooting on the shore.

When you hunt geese, you must have the right type of camouflage outfit. Often, this outfit is a cap and a coat of either dull green or brown color. Having the right supply of shells and a shotgun is also important. The shotgun needs to be 12 gauge and the shells should be number one.

You should also have waterproof boots which are of good quality and can withstand long wear while providing comfort. Of course do not forget your camera to take shots of the beautiful duck, geese and other waterfowl flying in formation in huge numbers in the hunting area.

It is obvious that you need to have licenses in order to take part in goose hunting in Canada. The licenses may be of many kinds including the seasonal hunting license for nonresidents, the waterfowl special 3-day license for non residents and the Federal wildfowl stamp all hunter license. The other license type is the hip permit, which comes free with all types of licenses. You will usually find the licenses and stamps in the sporting goods stores around the area where you intend to hunt.

Usually, the hunting season starts in October and the flocks of geese, ducks and other waterfowls stay in the hunting locations for the whole winter. This hunting season is long on average and it becomes better in September's first week with good outfitters providing semi-guided and guided hunting trips. It is also important to find out the sort of decoys that the outfitters provide or buy your own.

A decoy that is properly designed is able to get the attention of even the very alert Greater Canada Geese that for several years have been usually able to identify regular flocks of geese from a decoy. The population of ducks, geese and other waterfowls is apparently increasing every year and this enables inexperienced hunters to test their hunting skills and gain adequate experience in the art of hunting the wonderful birds. The large numbers of the birds are a great advantage to the hunters.

Caring For Your Cat Advice

By Mark Ferguson

Caring for your cat is something that is simple if you understand how to cater for their basic needs. This means you need to know what to do when it comes to their feeding as well as allowing them enough activity. Also ensure you have made plans to allow them to carry out all other natural functions.

You need to feed them on a regular basis and it should be done each day at the same times. You are the one caring for them so it's best that you institute a satisfying routine that works.

If you really don't have a clue when it comes to this then call upon the experts. People who work in pet stores or trained vets should be able to furnish you with some useful advice on this subject. Go easy on the treats as an overweight cat will be faced with health problems but make sure they get the nutrients they need along with plenty of fresh water.

Dealing with how a cat goes to the toilet will need to be addressed. Make sure you have installed a litter tray to a place that is appropriate in your house and understand it will have to be changed regularly. A cat flap should also be installed.

Cats are generally independent animals that enjoy being active and this is one way of ensuring they have a measure of freedom. They may be cute but don't treat them too softly as you will be going against their natural instincts.

Their sleeping area must be passed and comfortable and equipped with a range of toys so that they can indulge their playful nature. As they are also known to sleep for large periods of time you should take this into consideration when you plan their sleeping area. Don't put it anywhere they may be regularly interrupted.

How to Keep Your Dog Warm during the Winter: 101

By Dirk Gruenberg

The holiday season is just around the corner and it's that time of the year again when we can enjoy snow. Winter time can be very fun and exciting for everyone, even your pet. However, you have to make sure that your pet is well prepared when it comes to this season.

Of course, just like with humans, you don't want your dog to get too cold. It would not be good for him and he could easily come down with an illness. To prevent that from happening, consider following the following steps.

Out of all the things I am going to recommend, this one is the most important: Have your dog stay inside your house. This is the very best way to keep him warm.

Depending on how low the temperature drops where you live, you might want to consider buying clothing for your dog. Little dog shoes, for example, would already go a long way to keep is feet warm.

Moreover, you may want to get your dog a sweater or jacket. There is no harm in putting clothes on your dog, especially if the temperature dips.

These pieces of clothing should certainly keep them much warmer. Also, if you feel like it, you could have sweaters made specifically for the holiday season.

You also need to make sure that your pet's bedding is at least 3 inches above the floor. This will help keep them warm during the night and will keep the draft away while they are asleep.

Having it be cozy while asleep will be a big difference. And last but not least: Feed your pets a bit more during the cold season.

Your dog's body needs to have fuel to keep him warm and an extra serving of his favorite meal will surely keep him happy.

For Protection: Cat Claw Covers

By Kelley Widen

Having pets around a house can be very exciting. It's great to have a pet because you can enjoy looking at them, just playing with them. You can also have them around for company when you're sad and lonely.

So perhaps not all the pets you may have in your home can give you great company. Snakes and spiders, for example, are not exactly what you would consider the most comforting animal. But then again, I could be wrong.

How the main fact is that having pets bring a new light and energy to the home; especially when it comes to cats and dogs. These lovable animals are great to have around, and can give a sense of completion to a family.

I want to particularly talk about cats in this article. Cats are definitely a great house pet. They are clean, small, and handy. You don't need to worry about constantly training them in terms of where they should urinate or expel their feces. All you need to do is put in that litter box, give them a brief training, and they just seem to get it right away.

Having a cat can be a lot of fun, especially since you can carry them and take them anywhere. For those of you who love cats, the love you show your cats, can't be denied. However, I also know you love the furniture in your home.

Basically cats and kittens have the desire to scratch almost anything they sink their claws into. Your carpet couches, and other home furnishes fall victim to its claws. You may also be a victim to their scratching if they are not comfortable or upset with you.

So what is there to do in situations such as this? Other has said that a good solution would be to have your cat declawed. However, I must strongly object even now, because taking their claws would mean taking it for life. Cats were born with claws for reason, just like how a person is born with finger nails. There is a good reason why cats have claws in the first place, so we shouldn't the ones to take it from them.

Cats use their claws whenever they need to defend themselves for whatever circumstance may come. So the better alternative to declawing them would be to buy them cat claw covers.

These claw covers will keep your kittens and cats from scratching your home furnishings, yet at the same time make sure that it doesn't interfere with the regular usage of their claws. It is also easy to apply.

Get your cat covers today buy getting a package of soft claws. Both you and your cat will be happy, since everything is protected all the way.

What Makes a Dog Bark Non-Stop?

By Venice Marriott

Dog barking is a contentious issue and frequently a large source of bad feelings between neighbours. For anybody, a dog barking is a hard noise to listen to for even the shortest length of time and you can understand that when the dog next door barks on and off for hours like a faulty car alarm, it will try anyone's patience. What we frequently overlook is that the dog will be barking for a good reason (as far as they are concerned) and that it is potentially just as troubling for the dog who is feeling the fear or anxiety.

Finding out what sets off your dogs barking can be the hardest part of the issue as dogs can bark at the slightest of things. External noise, for example somebody walking past your home will start some dogs barking , however, even within the house, some dog owners find they can't leave their dog in a room on their own without them becoming hysterical and barking the place down, and the door bell or phone is frequently the cue for an outburst of barking.

Anxiety regularly lies behind a dogs excessive barking, even though on the face of it, it can look more like aggression. So to stop dog barking we need to beginby dealing with any anxiety problems, which will automatically reduce our dogs need to bark.

Separation Anxiety in Dogs

Separation anxiety affects more than 15 percent of dogs (and some reports says as much as 50%). The anxiety results in several behavioural symptoms from a dog pacing the floor, to chewing everything in sight as well as other destructive behaviour. Dog separation anxiety is virtually always the cause of a dog barking too much when left home on their own.

Reducing anxiety in dogs could be a lengthy process, dependent on how bad the symptoms are and will require both time and patience on your side. When you have worked out the events that set off the anxious behaviour you will be able to use desensitization training to help your dog.

Leading the Pack

Closely linked to separation anxiety is pack leadership. As a pack animal, dogs instincts tell them there should be a pack leader, one who is responsible for the security of the rest of its clan. If one of its charges goes missing, barking is one technique of helping them to find their way back. Clever stuff, but then if we stop and realize the dog could believe itself to be the responsible member of the pack, what does it feel when everyone goes out, locks the door and leaves them in the house on their own?

Excessive barking in dogs is very like any worried parents reaction to a child which has can not be found. In our anxiety we might bellow at the top of our voice in they hope they can hear us and come running back, so too a dog will try to let the missing pack members know the way to find their way back to the house. This is also why dogs will scratch wildly at the doors or windows, because they want to get out and search for you.

The Easy Way To Stop Dogs Barking

One of the best methods to stop dogs barking is to take away the responsibility for the pack from the dog by showing them you are the pack leaders and the ones to be trusted.

That does not necessarily mean using devices like the shock collar each time your dog is barking (why punish a dog for doing what it thinks is its job?) or removing its vocal chords (does it change the dog's mind about its responsibility?) Neither does it mean you have to control your dog by pinning it down or pushing it around. Leadership can be established by showing your dog you are the decision maker, as an example by always making them sit and wait for their food and only start eating when you give the go ahead.

It may seem like an indirect way to stop dog barking, but by handling both dog separation anxiety and leadership problems you are more likely to bring quiet to the home and the neighbourhood too.

By Bert Malone

Over time your dogs typically become close family members and we do need to keep an eye on their health and well-being for changes whether positive or negative, the dogs diet can be the basis or root of many health issues.

You'll find many disorders that are caused due to infrequent or very poor diets such as allergy reactions and bowel issues. A natural and sensible diet is paramount for a dog's health and well being, and can help keep prospective allergies at bay.

Dog foods that are made of natural and organic ingredients help with our dog's health; usually these types of foods will be richer in vitamins and minerals which can only be a good thing in providing a more healthy option.

Should your dog have a food allergy the source will probably be a processed ingredient, if this can be identified and eliminated the dog will return to good health fairly quickly.

Another option for good health is to introduce a vitamin supplement as we would take if feeling run down or tired.

Various other supplements that are beneficial incorporate beta-carotene which assists in eliminating toxins from the body.

A dog whose diet includes a great deal of meat can by natural means ingest toxic materials; if this is not managed further complications can reveal themselves in heart and lung disease.

As a result this shows a certain amount of all natural dog food assists in maintaining the metabolic system and keeps it working well.

If dogs with allergies are left untreated these disorders can grow to be significant and cause the dog's further irritation, itchy spots may develop on the skin by way of repeated marring, worst case examples may include self mutilation.

In order to stay away from allergies and disease one must try to feed our pets with natural balanced dog food and food allergies should not be a problem. Many home remedies are readily available, however try to be mindful and carry out the correct research as previously mentioned a poor diet can be the cause of many conditions.

Homemade foods are great for dogs thus there are no artificial ingredients and the dogs desire for foods will remain strong and well-balanced.
