T-Rex Pictures and Information

By Anthony Starks

You are reminded just how mean a T Rex really look with their extremely sharp teeth as you look at some T-Rex pictures. This is probably not the type of creature a human would like to encounter while out on a walk through the woods. Since they are extinct, these creatures can only be found on the set of Jurassic Park nowadays. We still have their fossils which are in display in museums although they do not exist already. You will find some information on the Tyrannosaurus Rex in the paragraphs below.

This species was known for being one of the biggest land carnivores. Nothing has beat this beasts record upto this day. . The largest one is said to have stood a little over thirteen feet tall and measured forty two feet long. The estimates have varied over the years but it is believed they weighed almost eight tons.

Exploring at the neck of this beast, you will see a natural "S" curve to it similar to other Theropods. The neck was not very long and had a great deal of muscle in order to support the large head.

Looking at the forearms, you will only find two clawed fingers, along with a small metacarpal. The hind limbs were pretty long as was the tail. In fact, sometimes, the tail would have over forty vertebrae. They assume the tail was so long in order to balance the torso and large head.

You are not able to tell this by looking at the pictures, but most of the bones all over the body were hollow. The hollow bones served to to decrease the weight of the animal. Envision just how heavy the bones would have been if they were not hollow.

The largest skull known measured around five feet in length. So as to lessen weight in the skull, there were significant opening. Definitely, when you look at pictures, you notice those sharp teeth - those teeth have been marked heterodonty. The longest tooth of this species that has been discovered is around twelve inches long and that makes it the biggest tooth to be found on this land.

Many have been debating whether this creature was a scavenger or a predator. Some say the bones looks as if it is related to the Gorgosaurus, which was a pure scavenger. The teeth of the Gorgosaurus hardly shows any type of wear, but theropods rapidly replaced their teeth. Ever since this beast was first discovered, experts have believed it was a predator. Just as the giant predators in today's world, this one would grab another predator's food if it were given the opportunity.

It is believed that this animal had a high sense of smell. They believe this dinosaur was able to smell carcasses over long distances, just as the vultures of today's world do. There is so much you can learn by looking at the T Rex pictures, but if you do not look at information to go with it, you will be missing out on a lot of facts.
