Perfect Puppies For Sale In Phoenix Az

By Sherry Gross

You are seeking a perfect puppy for your entire family to welcome and enjoy. You saw the sign or advertisement that offered puppies for sale in Phoenix Az. Now you are a little unsure of how to proceed. While you do want to purchase a pet for your family, you also want to be sure that you find the ideal one with a pleasing temperament and of the highest quality.

When you answer the ad and arrive at the location or kennel, ask about the parents. Their physical appearance, health and personalities will be important in making your final selection. If they are purebred dogs, examine their features closely. Ask to review their papers to ensure you will get what you are paying for.

Inquire about previous litters. You may be able to get the names of individuals who had purchased other offspring of the same parents. They would be able to tell you of any issues or problems with the older siblings they had selected and raised.

Be sure to interact with the pet you have selected. Analyze his overall physique, personality, and energy. An outside animal can be rambunctious and playful but if you desire an indoor pet, you may look for one that is more complacent. Choose one of the larger puppies available if you are looking for a guard dog.

While interacting with your prospective pet, also examine it for fleas, ringworm, or deformities. Check the sex to make sure you go home with exactly the right gender you are looking for. Decide ahead of time if you are going to spay or neuter your final selection.

Take your children along for this family event and include them in the activities with the prospective pet. Stand back and watch how well they get along and how the pets and children react when interacting. If the puppy seems too aggressive or overly apprehensive, it may be wise to make another selection. Be sure to include the children in the final choice so they will take ownership and help care for the new member of the household.

Inquire about shots, worming, removal of dewclaws and other procedures or reasons for visits to the veterinarian. Ask to see all the medical paperwork on the particular dog you are interested in. Look for any holes in their care and for any incidences of injury or illness. Taking this step may decrease your future vet bills by hundreds of dollars. By the same token, if owners appear reluctant to provide references, histories or other information on these dogs, they may be hiding something and it may be best to move on and try another location.

Purchasing a new pet for your family and household should be handled with caution. Remember, this animal could be with your family for a long time as dogs can live to a very old age. You don't want to end up with one that has a bad disposition, dislikes children or has series of health problems. Doing your research, keeping your eyes open and utilizing these suggestions will have you taking the dog of your dreams home with you.
