4 Steps To Dog Happiness

By Garrett McMahan

We often think of cats when we think of the bad tempered and unhappy animals and not dogs because they are the contented creatures by nature. To keep your dog always the happiest furry animal in your place, the following are some tips for this, and this is to ensure that your dog is happy always.

1. Take Fido Here, There & Everywhere

Dogs usually would prefer staying near you and even 24 hours a day or seven days a week, if given this chance. Dogs usually do not want being alone, thus bring your dog along with you, if this is possible. There can be some places where dogs are not allowed, but a reason why people leave their dog behind is because of the bad behavior usually exhibited by your dog. Thus, if you want to bring your dog along to many places, invest in dog training DVDs.

Obedience training DVDs can make it is easy for you to teach your dog a variety of skills, such as dog leash training, learning not to jump on people, learning to stop barking on command, sitting, staying and many other basic skills. Once you have completed dog training, you will have a safer animal that is well behaved enough to take almost anywhere.

2. Get Out There & Play

Dogs enjoy some playing time daily because they need a good level of exercise also. They may differ on the levels of energy because each breed and also the individual dogs have these differences. There are dogs that enjoy long walks and also enjoy playing dog agility sports like Frisbee playing, but there are also dogs that just enjoy short daily walks or some play fetching. Games such as tug games or hide and seek are games that some dogs enjoy. You can keep them from being bored by providing them play time and enough physical activities. If you have dogs with lots of energy in them, they can become tense and also destructive, if they become bored.

3. Proper Grooming Is About More Than Looks

A well groomed dog can become more comfortable, and this can be despite grooming quite a hard chore, and this is important. If your dog is often outside and playing, bathing your dog have to be done, at least once a month or more. The best type of shampoo used for your dog can be asked when you talk to your vet. Keep your dog's coat shiny and also free from tangles if you brush them several times a week and dogs love this. This can be a good bonding time for both of you and this is when you brush them which they like. You may also want to learn how to clean your dog's ears or you want to learn trimming your dog's toenails.

4. Schedule Those Vet Visits

It is important to note that your dog needs to have updated vaccine shots and also needs a yearly physical checkup done. It is during this checkup that your vet will assess the overall health of your dog and can even suggest taking blood samples for checkup. These are blood tests that are important for the older dogs, to check on signs of potential health concerns. You may also want to schedule teeth cleaning done once yearly or twice if this is needed.
