The Amazing Dog Breeds Of Cavachons

By Olive Pate

Cavachon breed are popular breeds of dogs that have similarity with teddy bears and also an easygoing character. The breed was established by a crossbreed between the cavalier belonging to King Charles and the bichon fries. Their product was a number of puppies that looked like teddy bears. They will weigh between ten and twenty pounds. Indeed cavachons are beautiful creations.

You will not fail to notice their striking and beautiful eyes. These characteristics are also prominent in the parent dogs. The cavachon breeds inherited the droopy ears and a silky coat from the cavalier. They take Blenheim as one of their colors. It is white color with apricot patches. They can also be in the form of three colors which can be white, tan and black or black and white. Those of ruby type have a darker apricot with few or no white patches.

They got their low shed and their dander furs from bichon breeds. This is why they are better pets for homes where members get allergies on contact with fur. Their coats will range from the wavy to the curly types. In half a year, they will have silky coat which tends to grow longer in a short time.

Grooming is recommended at the age of four months. After that, a permanent coat is achieved and their silky coat is shed naturally. At the age of six months, the wavy coat grows. They are groomed at intervals of three months through trimming. This can be done once before the three months are over at the head crown to get a puppy cut.

You can keep them in apartments or a condo where they will be comfortable doing their activities in the homes. They have varied activities to do. They do play mostly when resting and they are so particular on this. They look for quiet environments or get in your lap and rest. They are happy when they chase around. They can make good retrievers. Their other favorite activity is the tug battle.

They usually are very intelligent making them easy to coach. Another feature which facilitates this is how eager they are to please. They get commands easily. However, for the best outcomes, the training should be started off early in their life. Only qualified professionals should be hired to take them through the training.

Like many small breeds, the coaching should be by a strict and steady pack leader. However, he or she is not to be aggressive. If allowed to think that they are the charges, they can possibly develop trivial dog syndrome.

You will find them expensive especially in the maintenance since they need to be washed and also brushed once weekly to prevent matting of their curly coat. You may incur more costs when you take them for grooming and eye care. The food you give to them in expensive too. They are however valuable and sources of joy to anyone who gets to meet them any day. If they become a part of you it is difficult for you to get separated from them.
