English bulldog originates, as its name implies, from England. This old and respected breed is popular around the world, thanks to the many positive attributes that these dogs have. Their lovable appearance, nice and friendly nature and gentle manners make them perfect pet dogs. Although they can be quite delicate, and maybe ninety percent of females need a C-section to deliver their babies, if you take a really good care of them, they can stay healthy and strong for many years. Their expected lifespan is up to twelve years, but they often live longer. They have to live indoors, because they are sensitive to cold and heat, but, as all other dogs, they need daily walks to stay healthy.

When your dog is still very young, you can give him one additional blanket, to make it more comfortable. Put the basket in some quiet corner of your living room, family room or maybe in the kitchen.

Get some rubber toys. Chewing is very important for the development of the canine teeth. It is better that they chew rubber toys than your shoes or furniture. Your new puppy will probably be nervous and sad the first night in his new home. Wrap a ticking clock in some blanket to make things easier for him. Muffled ticking clock will calm him down.

Your dog will need at least two bowls, for his food and water. It is very important that you give him fresh water once or twice a day. The breeder will provide a written feeding sheet, and inform you about the type of food your puppy used to eat. For these first few days, give him the same food, until he adapts to his new home. After that, you can choose the best dog food for him.

Puppies should receive food several times a day, in small quantities, so they could digest the food well. Offer him food in his bowl, and give him fifteen minutes to eat it. After that, discard any uneaten food and make sure that your pet plenty of fresh water. For the next meal, give some fresh food to your dog.

It is very important to find a good vet for your puppy. He will make sure your pet is properly vaccinated and healthy, and give you numerous valuable advices. Your home has to be safe for your new family member. Remove all cords and all other dangerous things he might chew. If you have a yard, you can let your dog play there, but you need to check your fences first.
