Things To Know About Ragdoll Kittens TICA Registered

By Janet Hill

Ragdolls are one of the prettiest and best natured of all the domestic cat breeds. Like their name they can be easily carried around like toys. They tend to be more playful when young and become very laidback as they mature. If you are intending to show your cat or want to ensure your breeder is reputable then you need to look for Ragdoll kittens TICA registered.

TICA is the International Association for Cat owners, breeders and anyone with an interest in felines. It holds registry of both domestic and pedigree cats as well as breeders, breed information and a wealth of related topics. They hold shows all over the world and work in local communities to help rescue animals and educate about cat welfare.

When you buy a kitten or puppy that is registered with a reputable association, you know your breeder is responsible and that the pet should be healthy. If it is pedigree, it should also match the breed standard regarding size color etc. Both pet and pedigree cats that are registered are eligible to compete in any TICA shows. If the kitten that you fall in love with does not meet the standard for the breed, you can still enter shows and join in the fun.

There are ten colors and three patterns to select from so you are certain to find a kitten that you fall in love with. Regardless of whether you select colorpoint, bicolor or mitted the coat will be silky and soft to touch. Although they are semi longhaired, shedding occurs just twice a year which makes them quite low maintenance. Just like humans though they like daily grooming to keep them in top condition.

The color palette is so varied it covers almost every hue found in the feline world. Regardless of the color of their coat, their eyes should be the bright blue like forget-me-knots; the eyes being a distinctive feature of the breed. The combination of the beautiful eyes, soft coat and lovely markings makes this about the prettiest cat ever.

Another key feature of this gentle giant is its size. Toms will mature to a massive 20lbs with queens not far behind at 15lb. Despite their size, ragdolls are friendly with other pets and family members. They are happy to live with dogs, kids and other cats.

Some Ragdolls are so docile they can be dressed in doll clothes and treated like a precious toy. However, they are an animal not a toy and children need to understand this. Treat you pet with kindness and discourage kids from using them like a toy. Despite being far removed from wild cats, they still have teeth and claws that can be used if needed.

When you go to select your kitten, you can ask the owner about this wonderful breed. They will be able to give you information about feeding, training and grooming. They can also help you and advise you about showing if that is something you would like to try. Decide whether you would like to have kittens in the future and if not then once back at home consult your veterinarian about neutering. It is far better to neuter or spay rather than have an unwanted litter.
