A Goldendoodle Breeder Is Not Hard To Find

By Teri Farley

As Goldendoodles have become popular in a short period of time, the number of breeders has grown. A goldendoodle breeder is no longer hard to find. Pet owners have quickly learned to love the affectionate, intelligent and engaging traits of this Golden Retriever and Poodle hybrid. At the moment the puppies are bred from a standard sized parent.

The popularity of the Labradoodle experiment for an allergy friendly guide dog for the disabled has led to the several smaller crossbreeds. The Groodle was initially introduced in North America and Australia during the 1990s to offer a larger variant for dog lovers. They became increasingly desired as a reputation for possessing the delightful Golden Retriever personality but not its shedding trait became widely known.

This Retriever breed is appreciated for the sweet and loyal personality that makes it an ideal family pet. Its intelligence lends itself to being easily instructed. Once past the stage of puppyhood, its temperament is not excitable as a norm. The Poodle breed is also recognized for its keen intelligence. The Golden Poo has a water dog and hunting ancestry from both parent breeds. Its coat may range from a shaggy to a relaxed curl. A mix between the two contrasts is more common.

This playful dog requires early training. If the training begins early, the puppy is trained easily. But as the Golden Retriever requires to be shown who is the leader of the pack so also does its progeny. An owner will need to provide firm and consistent guidance. A moderate level of exercise is required. According to owner endorsement this pet plays well with others as it enjoys interactions with other canines and people.

This dog loves to do tricks and will catch on very quickly. Some training should be incorporated in daily routine. Patience and treats for good behavior will be rewarded. Kennel training the puppy may help in house breaking it more quickly. It could also help curb destructive puppy behaviors. After the puppy is trained the kennel will not be needed anymore.

With the poodle hair regular grooming is requirement. Otherwise, the coat will become knotted without maintenance. Daily brushing and regular bathing is suggested. Shaving the coat will keep the animal cool in the summer heat. The coat length can range from 4 to 8 inches. Its shade varies between gold, apricot, cream, gray, black, chocolate, phantom or a parti hue.

Most are bred as 1st generation crosses. They will have strong hybrid vigor. In the vernacular of animal breeding this means the first crossbreed will produce a healthier offspring than its parent pure bred breeds. With inbreeding, vigor gradually recedes.

Breeders have bred first gen Groodles to poodles in order to increase the allergy friendly coat trait. The first generation may not replicate the Poodle coat as closely. Breeding programs are also working on multi generational offspring. The road to establishing a breed standard has begun with this action. Since 1999, a miniature has become available. Dr. Kate Schoeffel, an Australian breeder, was the first to introduce a miniature. A goldendoodle breeder is available nearby with the puppy you will want to bring home with you.
