Caring For Your Cavachon Puppies

By Debra Cooley

If you are planning to get cavachon puppies, then you will have to prepare yourself for the responsibilities of being an owner. Dogs have a number of basic needs and you have to be able to provide this if you want pets. The following are some of the things you will have to do in preparation for the arrival of your new pets.

Grooming is part of owning a pet. These dogs have long, thick fur so it will be necessary to comb and bathe them regularly. To get the tangles out, you will need a wide toothed comb. A quality shampoo should do the trick when your pet gets dirty. Brush its teeth and take care of the ears every once in a while.

One must also find a good vet to go to. Your pet will be in need of vaccines and checkups to ensure his health. If he should get sick, then you will need someone who can diagnose him and recommend treatment. A veterinarian is the one to go to if there should be any emergencies. Ask around for recommendations and start evaluating your prospects.

There are other supplies that are needed as well. You will need to get high quality bowls for eating. Consider getting something heavy so that it will not be easily pushed and overturned. You could also get a leash to ensure that your dog will not wander when it is outside. A crate or a bed should be purchased. Stock up on treats as well so you can award your dog for good behavior.

Your pet will certainly need to eat meals a number of times everyday. Feeding him scraps from the table is not recommended as these may not be healthy for him. Fortunately, there are many products that can be found in stores. Consider the reputation of the brand and check what kind of ingredients are being used.

Training your pet will be part of your responsibility. This is important so that he will not make a mess each time he is left alone inside the house. He will need training so he can learn to recognize basic commands such as heel or sit. There are training courses available for exactly this purpose.

You have to make time for exercising your pet to maintain health. The younger ones will not as much exercise as a fully grown animal so short walks should suffice. Consider playing games with your pet so you can strengthen your bond with him. Investing in a number of toys is also a good idea so your dog has something to occupy itself with.

Bond with your puppy. He will need a lot of attention the first few days that he is taken to your home. Stroke him, show him all the rooms in the house, and keep him company when you have time. Be gentle when handling him. He might have to sleep in your room for several days just so he can become used to the new place.

Cavachon puppies can be a source of great joy. These dogs can give you companionship and a lot of good times given that you take proper care of them. Before these are set to arrive, shop for supplies, food, and for a place for them to sleep in. Find a good vet in your area who can help ensure your dogs health.
