What Makes Bengal Cat So Popular

By Andrea Davidson

The Bengal cat is one of the most charming breeds of domestic felines that is largely due to their very wild look and other physical characteristics. They are not your average household animals because of their personalities and very demanding manners. Make sure to research more on them before adopting one.

These are hybrid breeds that became popular recently and resulted from breeding domestic felines with the ALC or Asian leopard cats. The markings on its body such as the rosette, large spots and stripes makes it look like the ALC. Their coats, otherwise known as pelts, can sometimes appear marbled or spotted and if you touch it can feel very smooth and sleek like a satin and under the sun it looks glittering.

The rosettes only occur at the back and sides of its body and the stripes appear elsewhere. A distinct feature for all them is that they have mascara eyes, which is what you call the stripes on the side of the eyes, and striping on the forelegs. They have two classification, which is the brown spotted or the snow spotted, nevertheless, there are many types that are not recognized by some breed associations.

F4 breeds are the one which has a gentle domesticated temperament due to being four generations distant from the original breeding. Because of their wild ancestry, traits like being mischievous, alert, and high intelligence are ingrained in them. They love interaction from other animals and human companionship and are not the aloof kind.

They are also a very vocal breed that responds to you when you talk much like having a conversation and when they want your immediate attention they can be extremely loud. There are times when they can be very affectionate and cuddly and they follow you around the house and they can also be taught tricks. They sometimes resemble dogs because of those those traits and they are sometimes called a dog lovers cat.

They are also very athletic and hyperactive, which is not great if you do want too much hassle. They can easily jump to huge heights such as climbing doors, cupboards and trees. They are always ready for an adventure and action and will always be there when something happens.

Unlike most felines, they are have an affinity for water and they enjoy playing in it, which is a very common trait among them. They are attracted by running water and are not afraid to get into the water to investigate its source. They can also be at times messy with their drinking bowls or fountains though not all of them are fascinated with water.

They also love to eat and consume almost everything except fruits. They tend to climb into the food bag before you can get the food out and pour it. It is also important to feed them wet food other than the dry one because of their muscular body type.

This type will not just sit obediently on your lap and they are not the type to be left on their own for a long time. If you are always traveling, then a Bengal cat is not the type for you. These creatures create strong family bonds and will be very sorrowful when those bonds break so be sure that you have the will to commit if you want to adopt them.
