High Quality Horse Boarding Available

By Janine Hughes

Owning horses is a dream come true for many people. For many this has been a dream since childhood. Finally being in a position to afford their first horse is a really special moment. It is important to look around at some barns first to allow time to select just the right facility. There is a significant range of services available in each area and the costs also vary considerably.

The standards at big boarding facilities can vary tremendously. Owners must be willing to take plenty of time when they are looking for horse boarding available in their area. After all the well being of their animals will depend on their choices. Things to look out for are high standards of cleanliness and hygiene, well trained staff and satisfied owners.

Some barns are really geared up to meet the needs of serious competitors. They have a range of trainers on staff who are there to help and coach the clients. These trainers usually travel to the shows and help the riders every step of the way. A good show barn will also have an indoor riding area for inclement weather. This allows the clients to keep working year round.

Horses must aways have access to clean, fresh water. Most bigger barns use automatic water systems to each stall. However a smaller barn may still rely on filling buckets several times each day. Both of these systems work as long as the barn staff stay vigilant and always keep a close eye on each and every horse to ensure that they are drinking enough.

A top facility will usually charge quite high rates. However, this covers a lot of things, such as hay, grain, stall cleaning and every day care for the animals. This will save the owner a lot of time and effort. Many people simply do not have the time to be at the barn two or three times a day to tend to their animals needs.

At the other end of the scale are some really really great barns with all the luxury features. The horses lead a very pampered life, the stalls are cleaned twice a day and they have only the highest quality hay and grain. Daily turn out is in individual well fenced paddocks.

Another bonus of a large facility is that everything is kept under one roof. This is very important in the winter. Walkways of the main aisle will take the horses and riders to the indoor arena. No one has to venture outside in cold or icy conditions.

A good boarding barn will have a great atmosphere. Everyone, including staff, owners and horses will be happy and cheerful. Horses quickly pick up on negative feelings from the people around them.
