Are Pets Allowed To Eat Cake?

By Linda Buirners

It's a question dog owners ask often: are dogs allowed to eat cake? It's something asked a lot from dog owners because of a multitude of reasons: they're holding a birthday party for their dogs, they're giving them the cakes as treats and also other reasons. While they see no harm in giving it to them, some dog owners still want an assurance it's allowed. After all, chocolate is harmful to dogs if consumed in high quantity. Can the same apply to cakes?

The answer to the question is it depends. Depending on the circumstances, it can do an effect or do nothing. There's still a debate and research going on about this but before you go buy a truck full of cake for your dog, you'd better take note of these. There's a reason you don't see a cake being eaten by dogs that much. It's because cakes don't have ingredients that can benefit the dog. The ingredients were only meant for human beings. The ingredients might be foreign to a dog so in some cases, the dogs might puke it all out because their bodies can't absorb it.

Ever notice when you bring new people into your pet's life, your pet is never too shy to meet them? Their instinct kicks in and they always just go and meet them. They're not afraid to mingle with them because it has always been in their blood to make a new connection. That's what you should do; don't be afraid to mingle with new people. You have that instinct to go meet someone so go ahead, meet someone.

Why do dogs nag you to go out and play? Why do cats go out there and be independent? Because they've had the instinct of being fit. They don't want to be confined in a house all their life; they've been genetically geared to be fit and playful. You can never take that away. You? You have that instinct to be a fit person. You have that instinct of keeping your health up and running. So embrace it!

Your grandma should know cats have sharp claws. If handled improperly, the cat can scratch your grandma on either part of the body causing scars. Should you buy your grandmother a cat for her birthday? It depends on you. If you can explain to her the benefits and risks of owning a cat and she can take it, then it's a good present. If not, you can always get her something else.
